[Nighty]

"I see.... Well it was worth asking" He nods and look over Maid before smiles gently, looking over Brunhilde "So ready for this job? He ask calmly and winks when place his hands back from her and stand now still, ready to go

"Yea, lets go. I hope we can solve this quickly, else we need to find shelter in the village." I say and say goodbye to the guild maden before leaving the guild house. There are three maidens actually because there is probably much more to do in this guild house. But we always go to the same maiden. She is a taller woman and seems rather tough, she appears friendly but one can notice that she has limited patience. Maybe her friendliness is a fassade but she probably get the work done well enough. It almost seems like everyone in the city is rather tough actually. A suprise that someone funky and thoughtless like Isu is living here.

Back on the street we make our way to the main bridge that leads us once again to the mainland and off the island with its city sitting on it. From there the further paths are simple. On the right is the way next to the beach that leads into the south. That way we came from originally. On the left is the road into the north and infront of us is the road we need to take to get to the east. The road leads right through the treeline and the forest that begins like 100 meters ahead of us.

[Nighty]

"Well it was intresting.... I hope people in village will give us more information. I rather understand what is going on before put my head on the stumb" He think load when follow Brunhilde over the city and down to the gate before out the town, looking around softly. His hands rest in his pockets as he lightly slide his hood on his head to cover his eyes from the sun just a little bit.

"Thats what I hope too. Not a lot of information so far. Just people are missing. I still think its a demon but honestly, it can be an animal too. We will see on that." I say and we move down the street into the forest. Since we are in warmer areas of the continent there are mostly deciduous trees. But its not warm enough to be some kind of tropical area. In the winter its most likely a lot cooler. What is noticable is that there are no people on this street. Usually we would come across people at the beach but noone is hear. The last people we saw are some guards at an outpost guarding the roads to the city. They let us through without an issue. Usual business, whenever we enter and leave the city there are at least some guardians eyes on us.

The deeper we get into the forest the darker it becomes though for some reason. It doesnt appear that much like a holiday area anymore. The forest is well vegetated and it becomes more windy. I can understand why humans get some shivers down their spine. After an hour of walking it is surely creepy being around here. For humans at least. Walking in the woods without other people in sight can be unsettling, just that this situation is even more spooky.

[Nighty]

"Spooky forest with spooky weather.... Typical" he chuckle as his eyes move around the forest, taking off his hood. Well look rather intresting and he could understand why some may think this place is rather unsettling. He walk slowly with Brunhilde and enjoy this calm moment before the job come, when this do well, investigation start. He plan to talk with villagers and guards first to understand how all the disappearings happens and from when.

I stop walking for a moment and let the wind blow through my hair, listening and feeling the surrounding. "Yea, it kinda is. This is surely not an animal. I cant tell you that. Something has settled down in this forest." I grins and continue the walk. After a moment we can see some wooden houses in the distance, the village is there.

[Nighty]

"Yea.... Let's see what we learn from this villagers." He nods and look at the wooden houses that come out before slowly and steady head in the direction of the village.

Once we step into the village its quiet, not many people are around. Its a very small village, much smaller than the one in the beginner area where our journey started. You could probably count all the houses, its not that many. Once we stroll through the village we find two kingdom guards standing next to a well and talk to eachother. I guess its best to introduce ourselves to them first.

We approach the guards and introduce us, they recognize us as the reinforcement. They seem cooperative but not too happy about the whole situation. And not happy its only two silver adventurers but maybe the village doesnt have enough funds to offer a higher ranked quest. The guards ask us to follow them and they lead us to one of the wooden houses. They enter it and so do we.

Once inside the house we are greeted by an old man who welcomes us and offers us tea. He seems frail and worried but he skillfully hides it behind a mask of politeness. He asks us to sit at the table. "Welcome to our small village, Im glad you are here. I hoped for more people though, I am not lying about that. We have a serious issue at hand after all. I am the elder of this village." He says and once we sit on the table he gives us a cup of tea and puts a plate with cookies on the table. To my liking of course, I love sweets. But I hold back my urges to snack and focus on the man and the issues bothering this place.

[Nighty]

"Well to be fair, message not explain much. Plus to be blunt, payday is not greatest to make most people to look over the job when alot is unknow" Nighty answer calm when take off his hood and take the seat, placing both hands over his knee, not really right now in mood for tea or anything "But here we are, and I think we can help as long as we all work together... First things first, start from begining if you can. What is going on exactly?"

The old man sits down at the table too on the other side of both of us with his own cup of tea. He takes a sip and pauses a for a short moment. "You are right about that but we have no choice. We are just a small community in the shadow of the big city. We are poor compared to those and can only afford to live here. But everyone knows eachother, it is usually calm and peaceful. Thats why we cant offer you much payment. I dont feel good about bringing you as silver adventurers into danger but there is no other choice." The old man says and takes another sip from his tea while looking around. The house looks ordinary with some usual wooden furniture, a cozy place. The oven warms the room.

"But I am thankful you are here now. It all began like three months ago. We noticed that a woman who was once out in the woods to collect fungi never returned home. So we started to look through the forest ourselves. But we couldnt find anything. And that was not the first person missing. There are several missing now. Always people who left the village and stepped into the woods or used the road to and away from the village. We once found a left behind carriage without the human riding on it. The people just vanish. Now noone is brave enough the leave the village and step into the forest. We never found a corpse or anything like that but I can show you the carriage, we brought it here." The old man explains.

A monster or a demon living in the woods. Not hunting in the village but attacking people walking either on the road or in the forest. Not leaving corpses behind so it either consumes the human completly or hides the body somewhere. It surely isnt a succubus because men and women are both the victims and succubi usually come by night and infiltrate the village, leaving dead bodies behind in the houses, I think to myself, heh. But in context with the spooky looking forest I think it is not too hard finding out what the monster is.

[Nighty]

"Hmm that is intresting..... No bodies and one area of hunting. Yes it is intresting" He nods and sip slowly tea as he look over the old man. Well this is intresting case for sure, some kind of demon for sure but can't be the highest one, too simple and cowardly. High rank demon would go through it without even thinking twice.

"Let's go and see it. Doubt it will help but maybe, we will see" Nighty finish the drink and stand up as he look at him and Brunhilde, ready to investigate the cart and later on maybe forest.

The village elder nods and stands up. "Lets go right away." He says kinda pushy. I pout because I didnt have the chance to get any sweets.

Once we left the house we go through the village. The people around us look at us suspicious, they probably went through a lot. The two guards are following us short behind. After a short walk we reach a small wooden chapel and next to it a damaged carriage. The carriage has its wheels still but a lot of chunks are ripped out of it and you can see deep grooves and scratches all over. Its always five grooves together. So the demon must have big strong hands and rips through everything with all of its fingers. So, what is the best thing to do next? Investigate the forest? Send someone is a bait? In the village itself we are most likely save, thats why waiting in it doesnt make a lot of sense. Or is there anything else we should do? We might also be able to use the guards.

"That is the carriage, as you can see its badly damaged. We found it but we didnt find any survivors, not even the horses are left." The elder says once we reach the carriage next to the chapel.

[Nighty]

"Hmmm, large one. Five fingers, long claws... Predator type for sure"
Nighty look over the cuts and slices before nods and move from cart as he think about it. Waiting here have no sense since demon attack in forest and he doubt people will play the role of the bait as he turn to Brunhilde and nods

"I guess we need to enter the forest. Waiting here will not bring monster out and we can see what we kinda facing"

I look at the carriage and then at Nighty. "Okay, some forest investigation sounds fine." I nod.

The guards meanwhile look at eachother. "We will come too, you are only two people." The elder also participates in the conversation: "Take the guards with you. I can also send some young men with you who are able to swing an axe."

Its honorably they try to help aswell but its no use really, they would just stay in our way. Better to leave them behind or take them with us. You can choose.

[Nighty]

"That would be great but your village lost enough people elder. And you will need guards in case we all nit came back, someone need to deliver message"

He answer calm as much as bait could he useful and their bravery is amazing, in the end they can't help much. If what they said is right, demon attack quickly and rather by surprised or sheer terror.... They will rather be quick meal then real treat as he look over Brunhilde and nods

"Let's go Brun, we have demon to find and kill"

With that said and soft wink to her he look at the forest before head down into this green maze for the hunt they have

The elder scratches his head and the guards meanwhile look at eachother. They are probably wondering why two adventurers want to deal with this threat on their own. We arent even high ranked after all. "Alright but please if you find the threat then it is better to run. With the information you can get we can set up a new plan aswell."

I nod at the elder. It is unpolite to disagree with him so I simply agree to his plan. "Okay, we will look around the forest. If something is fishy we will return as soon as possible with some information." The elder nods aswell and sighs. They wanted help from the adventurer guild but they didnt want to send them in as 'cannon fodder'.

I smile at Nighty and we make our way into the forest. It is a little darker in this area, even though the sun is shining but all the leaves block the sun pretty well. Soon we cant see the village anymore as it disappeared behind the many trees. "By the way, how well can you supress your demonic aura? Can other demons or strong humans detect that you are a demon yourself?"

[Nighty]

The forest is really intresting, thick leaves block the sun so it look darker then it surely is, plus all this disappearing probably adds to the overall atmosphery

"I can hide it completly when need it... Most time I do it when I feel like avoiding unecessery attention. Why?"

He ask her curious as he look around from left to right, moving at the same tempo as her but watching thr area for any kind of clues or marks

It is very quiet and indeed scary. Some fog makes the scenery even more unusual, same with the temperature dropping by some degrees, which is totally unusual in such a warm climate zone. After all the beach is not that far away from here. The only reason for that to happen is that the demon living here influenced the surrounding with his magic to turn it into a comfortable place for them.

"Oho, you dont supress it all the time? Hehe, hopefully we dont get caught then once we come across an individual who can sense demonic auras very good. But Im just asking, if we supress it now maybe we look tasty enough for the demon to come to us. The other option is you can use your senses if you can feel any presence or magical energies in this area. Hunting or being hunted, what ya prefer?" I giggle as we keep walking deeper into the forest.

[Nighty]

"Never like being pray... So it would be good to sense it before he find us... Plus we not have to hide alot in here as whatever demon is here doing, already stentch this place with his presents"

He answer calm and look around before close his eyes fro second, now having the white glow as he look around. His Guardian Sight or Hell Vision let him see souls easly and read them like book, usuful in you wanna learn about your enemis quickly. In case of demons is little diffrent but still he could find them with sight, no matter how much magic mist he puts down

"Hehe, alright. Tell me if you can sense anything." I stand comfortable, put a hand on my hip and look around with a smile.

If you can sense the surrounding well enough you can notice different magical sources and souls. The souls are located behind us so its probably just the village with its villagers. But ahead of us, also on the right side and the left side is each something that sends out demonic energies. So three targets in total. They are a few hundres of meters away from eachother. The closest source of demonic energy is ahead of us but you cant tell if its a being or something else. Does that mean there are actually three demons in here? Or is something else emitting demonic energy? We cant tell yet.
